Pixel stops background recording — Adaptive Battery and app limits

Extreme Battery Saver is the sneaky one
Extreme Battery Saver pauses apps that aren't on its essential list, and it can be scheduled or triggered automatically at a battery level. If your recording reliably stops when the battery gets low, this is very likely the cause. Either turn the automatic trigger off, or add the recorder to the apps allowed to keep running.
Adaptive Battery and the "it worked for a week" pattern
Adaptive Battery learns which apps you open. A recorder that runs all day but is rarely brought to the foreground looks, from that angle, like an app you don't use — so it can end up restricted after a few days of otherwise perfect behaviour. If the failure appeared without you changing anything, turn Adaptive Battery off and re-test over several days.
Verify it properly
- Set Unrestricted, notifications allowed, Battery Saver off.
- Record one hour with the screen locked.
- Record overnight.
- Repeat the overnight test three days later without opening the app in between — that's the run that catches Adaptive Battery.
